For anyone with a sincere interest not only in Indian arms, but in true scholarship in the study of Indian history as told by the weapons themselves, this book is a must!!!
The title is so very appropriate, as the kind of research and comprehensive detail on the weapons reflects the passionate scholar that is Jens. It should also be well noted that Jens is truly one of the pioneers in the study of the weapons of India as he was involved in the publishing of one of the seminal works on these swords. That was of course "the Indian Sword" by Philip Rawson by the Danish Arms and Armour Society in 1967. In fact Jens had weapons in that reference, reflecting the importance of the weapons he has discerningly collected for decades. Jens dynamically illustrates that weapons are not just to be collected and classified, but they are in essence, history itself, and each has its own story. While many remain excellent examples and can only stand as such for time, they are open cases always ready to reveal more. Others have much more depth in the findings that have taken years to discover. The tenacious study that Jens puts into his work is told beautifully in these weapons and the entries that accompany them . I just wanted to say these things in the time of the release of this landmark reference in this field of study, as this will become one of those highly sought but hard to secure books......as I recall other books in which I said, I wish I had gotten one then!!!! |

Thank you very much Rand and Jim.
I hope some will find it of interest, as there had been put quite some research into some of the weapons, but there is still a lot of research to be done. |

Book
In my case, I sent an email to the company inquiring about the book. Received a prompt professional reply and a couple emails later received an invoice, then paid for the books I ordered.
By the way, if you order more than one book the shipping cost per book drops quite a bit. rand |

I found it on John Randall Books homepage. Look for India and go to page 16.
The Easiest is to go to John Randall's homepage, write Nordlunde in the search function and enter. I have added a few pictures, besides from the ones you can see on the booksofasia homepage. Last edited by Jens Nordlunde; 20th October 2016 at 06:17 PM. |

Thank you for the ones who bought a copy of my catalogue - some even bought more than one copy, but my ideea to publish it is, to help new/newer collectors to see the difference of the different weapons, and to valid the decorations comepare to newere copies, which is not always easy when they are well made.
I wish that other members would do the same, so we will have a lot of weapons to compare when it comes to age/decoration, which can be very difficult to do. One thing is to have pictures on the forum, it is quite another thing to have a book, where you can take another book from the book shelf, look up the weapon of interest and compare them. |
