Yatagan for translation and comments
Hello,
I have recently acquired the Yatagan in the photos attached. Can somebody please help me with the translation of the cartouche?! What do you think about it, made in Turkey, or made it in the Balkans?! Regards, Marius |

Very nice yataghan, top quality. My guess would be Balkan, and if I have to guess further, I would say Bosnia.

The seller (HH) mentioned the blade was dated with the year 1224 AH (1813) but I could not identify any numerals in the cartouches (not that I am very knowledgeable at this). |

The first one:
The names of the Seven Sleepers and their dog. "Yemliha, Mekselina, Mislina, Mernuş, Debernuş, Şazenuş, Kefeştatayuş, and Kıtmir" |

The second one:
Sine-i Adaya ya Rab bu bıçağı kıl nişan, Sahibine verme ya Rab ömrü oldukça zeval Which can be roughly translated: Let this knife be a sign on the bossom of the enemy Don't let any harm come to the owner of this knife in his life No dates on the cartouches by the way. Best, |
