Jim and Ibrahim,

Thank you for your comments and observation son the blade. I do not have the sword in hand either, and like you only have the pictures. What I find interesting is that while the owner replaced the scabbard and the grip, he chose to keep the European guard, perhaps due to the significance of the solar symbol on it.
