Ok let's see if this works? Took these with my phone. The seller states that the knife was solid as a rock. When I emailed him stating that the guard loose and wobbly he told me that solid as a rock does not mean tight ??? Notice the butt tang was drilled out you can even see where the holes are. Looks like someone welded a nail to tang and used soldier to seal it up?

That could be part of the tang, the piened portion may have broken off and someone tried to repair it with solder. Is the handle loose enough to be taken apart, so you can see what is actually going on there? The guard may have been installed backwards hence the apparently poor fit with the blade tang.
