yup, aldevinco in Davao had a lot of these a few years back. harimauhk, you're right in that the craftsmen of lanao del sur, specifically tugaya, are more than capable of making these, even to the point of making them look old.

I saw some really first rate modern gunongs at Aldevinco, but I wasn't prepared to pay their prices and they wouldn't accept my offers. I'll make it to Lanao Del Sur eventually.

The gunong arrived today and it is quite well made the bunti wood is nicely figured. The blade exhibits the proper distal taper. The back of the guard has a quality engraving.
maybe recent but worth what I paid .
