Antique breastplate/cuirass for sale
Here is a Napoleonic-era breastplate in "used" condition. This one is one of the rarer versions, being made of iron with copper jacketing. Likewise, it has an unidentified badge for some particular branch of Cuirassier. I have been unable to specifically identify if this is French, Austrian, Spanish, etc, as they all used breastplates in this period (1810-30). Has the two studs for securing the back plate (missing). The interior marked with an arsenal number 551. The upper right hand corner of the armor has pitting, but intact. Left side has a blemish which I think might be from an armorer's proof test (it was common to shoot the armor breastplates with a musket to prove its worth). Copper has pickled to a dull brown with some blemishing. A rare piece for sale for those who are interested. I'm asking $425 (I feel this is still a good price for one with the front badge).
