Antique Kachin Dao
I'm letting go of this Kachin Dao - seems to be a 19th c. piece of good craftmanship: The hilt is complete and exhibits the traditional construction (silver/brass/wood/braided fiber/pommel plate); shows some genuine wear from handling (e.g. lacquer on the left side worn from rubbing while carrying the sword in the scabbard); the pommel plate is probably bone.
The blade shows some wear and pitting but is very strong and ready to go for another 100 years. It's clearly laminated and on the right side I see a double band extending from the base of the blade which should end in the typical hairpin loop - probably needs some polishing and etching efforts to bring out clearly. Price is US$ 295 (paypal included) and international airmail postage fee $19 (less for some European countries). Feel free to email me for additional info or pics! (Please avoid PMs - my mailbox tends to fill up quickly.) Regards, Kai Last edited by kai; 8th October 2008 at 12:24 AM. |
