Hello and happy xmas to all,
I thought some of the lovers of all things African, might like a look at these paintings by the world famous naturalist and artist Joy Adamson. They were first published in the January 1948 edition of the "Geographical Magazine" (a truly wonderful publication) in an article entitled " Tribes people of Kenya's Northern Frontier district". Although no weapons are illustrated in the prints, I for one am always keen to see the faces of the peoples so often discussed within this forums pages. Unfortunately, my scanner is off line at the moment, so I have had to use my camera to reproduce the images, I will hopefully soon try and include the text that accompanies the article, as it was written at a time when the peoples depicted still lived a traditional lifestyle, and as such, to mind anyway is a priceless time capsule of the pre Adidas baseball cap era. Enjoy. |
