Default Silver yataghan: renovated???

I am somewhat uncomfortable with the "silverwork": seems quite crude, especially the "dolphin head", and the niello is far too pristine. The retaining plates have very "fresh" and crude edges too. What do we know about Syrian renovations of Yataghans? They are pretty active re-mastering silverwork for Kilijes and Shamshirs, but I have not seen "Damascus" ( )Yataghans yet.
