Question ID club

I have had this club for many years. I did show it here well over a decade ago. So I am trying again just in case there is somebody with new info or something similar that might shed more light on the origin of this piece. 70 cm long with a decorated octagonal section 32 cm long. I suppose it could be called a pole club. It is not Fijian or Tongan or Samoan although the wood appears similar to those island clubs. I did entertain Vanuatu Islands for a short time but no or the Solomon islands. It is not African or Asian so I am left with the Americas. it is not North American. So maybe South America. Then I keep coming back to the similarity to some Oceanic wood? Then the zigzag decoration makes me think South American again. Not just Amazonian but also Argentina. If anybody has an opinion or knowledge please add.
