Default Please help me with this recycled Shamshir

Could anybody please help me figure out what type of blade this is. I was told it's an older western cavelry blade, probably Russian or British. I was told the gaurd was made in 17th to 19th century. So maybe the blade is around the same age. The handle is some type of bone and the scabbord leather. There is a small mark on the top of the blade buts it rusted over and some gold mark at the end of the scabbord. I can't make any of them out. Thank you for any help you could give.
