A silly question - Ethnographic Arms & Armour

This iron object may well be a drawer knob. But something tells me it could be a heavy sword pommel. Why ? Its well elaborated shape, the patina ... and its heavy weight; 170 grams ... for a volume of 4,3 cms height and 3,5 cms. width. Please tell me my imagination is is beyond limits. .
