Thanks for the reply
I am aware of the french artillery sword but this one is a single edged sword (I forgot to mention in my first post)
It has some ball point pen markings (possibly from a repair job) on the wooden part of the scabbard, when the leather is removed. The sword has this hallmark on blade and at the end of the grip.
