wrangka without gandek
I've read in an old Dutch book (about: the history of making a keris),
that: the wranka ladrang suggest the shape of a boat and the gandek is the place where the rudder would be. Only the people of Sala (Before Sala changed to Surakarta (1746 or 1671 F Java) did not make a gandek on their Wrangka Ladrang I have one keris without a gandek , and I was wondering if this is a keris from Sala and from that period, it's an old keris with an old thin small and fragile blade. I've searched the internet but could’t find much about it, it seems that there are not much Wranka’s without a gandek. Can anyone tell me: if it is based on facts or just an old story ? and all comments about the keris are welcome. Thanks in advance |
