Another pepper box
Belgium again, but this time in a pinfire system, circa 1880. Six 9 m/m rifled barrels. Folding trigger; ejection rod screwed into the stock butt.
It has a serial number and Liege proof marks, but no makers mark. This is a pattern equal to that generaly made by Joseph Deprez. This type of pepper box was called 'de curé' (vicar) in a allegory to a priest gun model. But i remember having read this is no more than an allegory. It's working perfectly ... mechanicaly i mean; it makes a very nice discrete click sound, when rotating the cylinder. Fernando |
