Default Bearded Axe with Trefoil pierced blade

This is outside of my usual area of collecting. Can anyone give me information about it? Does anyone recognize the maker mark on the bottom of the poll? The was reportedly found on the Rhine near the German-Swiss Border. It is smaller sized with the blade being about 4 inches (100 mm) in length.

The smaller size and the piercing bring to mind a small axe that I have that I have interpreted as being a guild axe. (Photos to come and we will see if I remember it correctly.)

Here is a link to an item in the Smithsonian collections.

Default Possible Guild Axe

Thank you for your reply. Interesting guild axe in the link. I've found a few others that were quite similar. Was a guild axe a badge of office for a guild leader?

Looks like you have a partial makers mark with a six pointed star. May be worth pursuing?
