Auckland Museum Walloon sword
Here is another discovery from the Auckland museum which had it labeled as a rapier!
It has a Kings Head stamped on both sides of the blade, I initially thought it was a Wundes until I realised it faces the wrong way which means it is most likely to be made by Martino Antonio. Overall Length: 98cm Blade Length: 83cm Weight: 697.3g Balance Point: 13cm Profile Taper: Shoulder Width: 37mm Point Width: 22mm Distal Taper: Shoulder Width: 6,5mm Point Width: 2mm |

Say Robert, what device do you use to take pictures; a cellphone or a (digital) camera ? .

It's a mix, I have a good digital camera myself but some of the photos come from cellphones carried by other members of Auckland Sword and Shield. And the first pic showing the entire sword comes from the museum website because we didn't think to take entire sword pictures on the first visit.

Pardon me; it is just that some of them are so ... unfocused .

Yeah I know, but we have 2 hours to fully admire, measure and weigh 10 swords so everyone just snaps as many pictures as we can and hopes for the best.

Hi Robert,
What an excellent opportunity to see some interesting swords, something that is certainly more challenging to do here in NZ. Was it difficult to organise and will your group be having another after this latest COVID mess is over? Cheers Bas |

@Bas,
Very easy to organise, I spoke to one of the volunteer curators or gave me an email contact and a couple of emails later I had a selection of dates to choose from. We have been twice and will definitely go again once we get unlocked. Robert |
