pistol made by Claude Niquet à Liège

I got this pistol from a friend and think that it was made for the Netherlands around 1720. Unfortunately I am unable to find out what the signature "G.G.N°42" at the thumb plate could stand for. Maybe I can get some help here.

Looks like a standard holster pistol of the early 18th century. Could the initials stand for a Guard unit with an initial G, and the 42 as a rack number? We need someone who knows about military forces of the Low Countries at this period. I am just guessing.

Perhaps it was a "Grenadier Guard", but normally these long pistols were in use by mounted soldiers and not by grenadiers. Very difficult, anyway thank you for your opinion!
