First of all, hello!
My name is Sebastiaan Mook and I'm a small time collector of everything that looks cool to have. I just bought a Hutu sickle sword/blade. (the advert should be disappearing soon of the web, but it might still be there) Its not this one, the handle is a little different, for the rest its identical. The handle in my case if wrapped in rope. What I would like to know, is the probable date of manufacture of these kind of weapons? I have a hard time finding any good info about it on the web.. Kind regards, Sebastiaan Mook Last edited by Robert; 9th July 2015 at 04:34 AM. Reason: Download your photos straight to the forum, no live links. |

Oh I kind of messed up with the pics the last post, but, it finally arrived so these are the right photo's!
I bought it for 30,- euro's. The seller could only tell me it was from Rwanda and that his uncle brought it with him a long time ago. Sooo, how old can it be? And is it Hutu for certain? |

Hello Sebastian!
Your link implies Equatorial guinea... But I have no idea how widely this style may reign. ![]() spiral |

Because I certainly saw Rwanda as its place of origin several times, but even within Rwanda a dozen tribes used them apparently. |
