Default Philippine Insurrection sword ??

I had to work yesterday, so on the way home I decided to stop at an antique mall and look around. I found this to my surprise and it was inexpensive as well. This is what I believe to be a Philippine Insurrection sword, but the handle reminds me of the Chinese "River Pirate," knives and swords.
Any input would be appreciated.

Also from me congratulation! Very nice Luzon piece. How long is it that you call it sword? Would like to see pictures when you have cleaned the blade.

Regards,
Detlef

I would also add that this might be from Illokos Norte, making this Ilokano.

Also good carving, using their form of "okie" motif.

Sorry it has taken me so long to post a reply about your very nice new addition to your collection, but I was trying to locate a photo of the hilt of one of my daggers to add for comparison to your sword/long dagger. As you can see the carving on the two hilts is very similar in their detailing. I am in total agreement with what has been said so far about your piece so I cannot really add anything new to the discussion. Again, my congratulations to you for your great luck in finding this.

Best,
Robert

P.S.
I want to mention that the horn hilt on my dagger is actually as dark as your example and that the only reason it looks this light is because of the lighting used to try to bring out the detailing when the photo was taken.

Not only are handles similar, but the guards appear to be as well and to be made of brass. Can we see more of the blade on your very nice dagger/sword ?

Now that I have remembered what I named the file that the photos are in, no problem at all. My dagger is a simple straight bladed one unlike yours with its kris styled blade.

Thanks for the pictures of your very nice dagger; is the medial ridge down the center on both sides as it appears ?

You are very welcome Drac, and yes the medial ridge is on both sides of the blade. Your sword and my dagger together would make a great set so why don't you pack up your sword and sent it to me? I promise that I would take very good care of it.

Funny , I had a similar thought; the only difference was that your dagger would come to me............and yes, I promise to take good care of it.
