Default Blade Markings on a peudeueng peusangan from Aceh

The following sword is a peudeueng peusangan ( aka sikkin peusangan, aka pedang type 2) with a Hulu Meu Apet from Aceh that just closed on ebay. I bid on it but did not win. Derreck's Antiques was kind enough to give me permission to research and use the pictures in a paper I hope to finish soon on these swords. This is the first marked blade I have seen on them. I have gotten a great deal of help with information on these swords here before and I am hoping that someone will recognize the markings. Initially it reminded me of the half moon marks seen on kaskara and such. The pictures are the property of Derrecks Antiques

The sword is the common form with a bit nicer pommel than is normally seen

Here are the markings

Thanks in advance and thanks again to Derrecks Antiques for allowing me to use the pictures.

John

A INTERESTING SWORD TYPE ESPECIALLY TO BE FROM SUMATRA AND THE ACEH PEOPLE. IS IT A TYPE IMPORTED FROM INDIA OR PERHAPS INTRODUCED OR MADE BY A MOSLEM SMITH FROM INDIA? IF THAT IS THE CASE PERHAPS THERE ARE LINKS TO THE MARKS IN INDIA OR IT MAY BE A MAKERS MARK FOR THE FAMILY OR COMPANY WHO MADE THEM IN SUMATRA. GOOD LUCK

Indians went to Sumatra and introduced this hilt (Gulabhati became Hulu Meu Apet) as well as Piso Podang (see Elgood's book)
Nothing Muslim here, pure Hindu tradition.

Like Ariel said there was Hindu and Buddist influence there possibly as early as the 1st century AD. And they can be found with imported Indian blades. I have one with a nice mechanical damascus blade.
