I already have one similar Rasak but with a miquelet lock.

I ‘m wondering if those inscriptions after the date could be a city or only name from the owner. Any comment on it will be welcome Regards Cerjak |

			Hi Cerjak,

Nice rifle, I was informed if Greek and not Albanian should be called 'Kariofili' and not 'Rasak'. See this thread http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ighlight=rasak Sorry I can't help you with any translation, hopefully a Greek speaking Forumite will come along and help soon. Have you dismounted the barrel? As you can see from the above thread the barrel on mine came from France, would be nice to know if yours was a locally made barrel or cannibalised from another musket as mine was. My Regards, Norman. |

			Nice and typical "kariofili".

The inscription states: "1855, December 21, Karditsa". ("Kardista" is a city in central Greece). |

Many thanks for those informations. I will try to remove the barel to see if there is foreign marks but always afraid to damage something ... Regards Cerjak |
