Philippines Bolo
The second purchase of the weekend.
Lets see if I can be more accurate with this one For obvious reasons the UK does not see as many Philippines items as the States does. This is the first one of these that I have bought, mainly because it is the first one that I have seen for sale at a fair. I suppose that we shouldn't complain as we have more than our fair share of items from many other countries of the old British Empire. O/A length is 34 ins. Blade is 18 ins, with a false edge just over half it's length. Hilt is steel with horn and twisted brass wire. Unlined, leather scabbard. All opinions welcome. Regards Roy |

Hello Roy, All I can say is for a first time purchase you sure a did well. A late 19th century Luzon bolo with all the hilt windings still intact and its original leather scabbard. Congratulations on this very nice addition to your collection.
Regards, Robert |

Nice catch Royston. Robert is once again on the money. Blade profile makes me think Tagalog.
