I have this ax is I do not know if it is really Songye, you know more?
length: 36 cm
width: 17 cm

I AM NO EXPERT IN THESE SO ITS POSSIBLE ITS FROM SOME SUB TRIBE OR SOMETHING BUT IT LOOKS LIKE A TYPICAL EXAMPLE OF SONGE AX TO ME.
THE BLADE SHAPE AND FORM IS TYPICAL SOME HAVE PIERCED BLADES SOME EVEN INLAYED WITH COPPER OR BRASS. MONITOR LIZARD SKIN COVERING THE HANDLE IS ALSO COMMON, SO I WOULD SAY SONGE AX.

For Songye forgery I should expect some better work, or could be made on a mondaymorning

The decoration looks very close to the one on a Kuba knife I have. Also made on a mondaymorning, lol

Very cool patterns! Never seen ones like these before and I'm unfortunately no help as to the authenticity, but I know I like it!

The handle btw., is wrapped in leather from the Nile monitor - Varanus niloticus.

SOME COVERED WITH LIZARD SKIN SOME WITH COPPER ONE MAY HAVE A PURE COPPER HANDLE.

thank you for your clarifications. the shape of the handles of axes Songye is always the same. Those below the bulge on the top of the handle is small, the iron is very wide in the end, I doubt, I do not know. She Songye origins, but it is forged by Songye, I do not think ....
