I like it!

How heavy? Differentially hardened? Chinese or American made? Are American ones differentially hardened? Are these to be seen with sanmei blades? How often?

Absolutely beautiful.

Was this form specific to a working class or culture/specific group? I've often heard of this referred to as a "Pirate's knife" but not much else after this descrption.

Thumbs up

VERY NICE INDEED! IS THE HANDLE WOOD? NICE DESIGNS AND SOMETHING I HAVE NOT SEEN BEFORE. IT WOULD MAKE A GOOD ADDITION TO THE EXAMPLES OF THESE IN THE PREVIOUS POST ON CHINESE FIGHTING KNIVES. CONGRADULATIONS

Barry

I don't have it in hand yet. When it arrives I will let you know what the hilt is made from but it looks like wood to me.

The knife arrived today. Let's see the forward guard is not fitted well because some idiot took the knife apart the butt shows signs of being drilled out and refitted with a nail. There is a huge dent or crushed area about a half inch long and 5/16 of an inch wide which is hard to make out on the photo . I have not been having much luck with items on eBay of late. Contacted the seller and complained. Waiting for his response.

That stinks, can you post some additional photos of the damage and of the tang. It looks like there is some kind of marking there but it is hard to make out.

Ok let's see if this works? Took these with my phone. The seller states that the knife was solid as a rock. When I emailed him stating that the guard loose and wobbly he told me that solid as a rock does not mean tight ??? Notice the butt tang was drilled out you can even see where the holes are. Looks like someone welded a nail to tang and used soldier to seal it up?

Ouch.

That's no good, sorry to hear Lew. Are you getting a refund from the seller?

That could be part of the tang, the piened portion may have broken off and someone tried to repair it with solder. Is the handle loose enough to be taken apart, so you can see what is actually going on there? The guard may have been installed backwards hence the apparently poor fit with the blade tang.
