Well here are two of our small sized walrus hilt yats. They are widely considered common Balkan items. Does anybody know why are they so small? Could they be child yats? As I we heard that during 19 century in this part of the world kids would receive their own yat at the age of 12.

NIce pictures.
I like the large broad bellied example. I suspect the smaller ones were for youths and as young as twelve does not surprise me when history shows boys younger than 12 transversing the countries they were living in and everyone needed some sort of personal protection. Gav |
