Around the 1500 to 1600's were Matchlocks used for hunting not just war. I have looked for paintings etc. with out much luck. Is any one able to point me in the right direction?

			Hi Owen,

Here is a famos illustration by Stradanus, ca. 1570, depicting hunters with their hounds and equipped with North Italian matchlock muskets with painted stocks and matching powder and priming flasks. Have fun, Michael |
