Yours is a Visayan piece. It may have a deity head, though hard to tell from the pictures. |

Thank you all for your responces. I will be posting better pictures as soon as it arrives which I hope will be in the next two days. I am also hoping that it has a deity head on the hilt as Jose mentioned it might. Thanks again. Robert |

			Well,

The Bolo arrive today with quite a few surprises. It does have a deity head grip and also a turtle shell and leather covered scabbard! There is one bad split it the turtle shell covering and a few worm holes in it and the grip but all in all I am very happy with it. The fittings could be brass but have a very soft glow so I will have them tested to be sure. The blade is in great condition but was covered with a coat of varnish that I have removed. The scabbard was covered in years of just about everything including paint splatters so I have given it a light cleaning followed by Ren wax. It is dark outside now so I will have to wait until tomorrow to post pictures. Robert |

			Steve and Flavio,

Thank you for your interest and for the pictures. Here are a few that I took this morning. Hope you all like them. Would anyone like to take a guess as to the age of this sword? Robert Last edited by Robert Coleman; 13th October 2007 at 07:52 PM. |

			Hi Robert,

It does look like a binangon with deity hilt. Here is mine http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...light=binangon will a simple (broken) bulbous hilt. Yours is a very nice one...and yours as well Flavio! Emanuel |

			Hi Manolo,

I remember yours from when you first posted it and ask about age. It is still a nice example (like all the others shown here) even with the hilt damaged. Flavio, I've got a question on yours. Is the hilt wood or horn? I can't tell from the pictures. Mine is horn. Thank you all again for your interest and help. Robert |

			Hello Emanuel, thank you

Robert, mine is made of wood and I think that this is one of the elements to say that yours is older than mine
