I got this today. Cleaned up very nicely. I suppose to most people seeing it all covered in rust it just looked like a funny bit of junk, perhaps it is

Hi Tim,
that's a songye short sword or at least in some books it's labelled like this. On Zirngibl and Fischer there is one with a yaka scabbard. Here is mine (sorry for the bad pic ![]() ![]() |

Thanks Flavio. I have looked again and indeed it is Songye. I like it and as in a lot of African weapons, it is not six inches thick and strong enough to chop down trees. It is however a very finely made fighting weapon.
