Great find! One of the fun things about indo-persian weaponry is the creativity of the designers. I think I became hooked on ethnographic weapons the first time I looked through a copy of 'Stones Glossary of Arms and Armor' and wondered, 'how the heck did they use THAT?

The blade is in such nice overall shape I'd be afraid to touch it, and at the same time I'd like to see a clearer pattern in the wootz. Nice blade! |

I agree with FenrisWolf, I personally would give the blade a light etch.

Thank you both. I really love it. I'm hooked on indo-persian weaponry since I got this first piece. The variety is amazing. I'm on the fence when it comes to a light etch. When I bought it the owner cleaned one small spot to show the wootz. Then a little on the handle and he said the handle and even the "rivets" are. I had a hard time seeing the pattern on the blade at the time let alone the handle. Although in the daylight it's pretty obvious on the blade. Any thoughts on age? Is anyone able to answer DhaDha's question about it's age? I'm curious as well... |
