				 | Swords in Dubrovnik

I spent a few lovely days in Dubrovnik (Ragusa) on the Dalmatian coast. Visited the Rector’s Palace and the Maritime Museum but they did not have many swords. Split had more arms in the museum.

The old town of Dubrovnik is indeed excellent to visit, but for cold weapons you have to be in Zagreb; the history museum holds a most outstanding collection https://www.hismus.hr/en/collections...ns-collection/. Tip for the ones who wanna stay a couple of days, instead of expensive Dubrovnik, one can stay for good prices excellently just outside the town in villages like Kupari, Mlini or Cavtat Last edited by gp; 5th December 2024 at 07:19 PM. |

Am I seeing it wrong or is the blade in pictures 1 & 3 orientated with the back of the blade facing forward?

Additional pics, incl. old flag of Dubrovnik (Ragusa) with patron St. Blaise. Some flags also had LIBERTAS written on them. Last pic is the Arsenal where the ships were build. Allegedly Dubrovnik ships lasted twice as long which must have been a competitive advantage. In 1500s they had the 3rd largest merchant fleet after Spain and Netherlands. Salt production in nearby Ston accounted for 1/3 of city revenues. The city relied on a mercenary army.
