Default Filipino Kris Sword?

Hey Guys I'm a newbie here and would appreciate some feedback or any knowledge on this sword.

Any ideas what exactly it is? I figured it's just a tourist blade but my uncle got it in I'm assuming the late 60's when he served in the Air Force. He passed and left me some swords so hopefully I will get the other 2 up in the next week.

All I know is that it has Philippines on the blade it's about 17inches when it comes to the blade and it's exactly the same as this one! I skimmed the video comments and gathered some information on it but if anyone else had any ideas I would much appreciate it.

Thumbs up

WELCOME TO THE FORUM.
I WOULD AGREE WITH YOUR ASSESMENT OF THIS ITEM. IT WAS MORE LIKELY MADE ON LUZON AND SOLD AROUND SUBIC BAY SHOPS. THESE MAKE A DECENT FIGHTING KNIFE AND ARE COMMON IN MANY FORMS. THEY WERE MASS PRODUCED IN SMALL SHOPS AND THE WAVY BLADE ON YOURS WAS LIKELY FORMED BY STOCK REMOVAL NOT FORGEING. SOME HAVE DARK WOOD HANDLES AND SOME HAVE BLACK HORN HANDLES WITH BRASS FITTINGS. A NICE EXAMPLE OF THE TYPE.
