Default Where does it come from?

Hi
Im dutch so sorry for my crappy english.
i can buy a sword from indonesia from some1.
And i cant find anything abouth it on the internet.
He says he has it from an indonesian old man who was fighting in the wars for the knil in indonesia.

The handgrip is from buffelhorn with eyes from ivory.
The blade is in good shape and the scabber is from silverplated buffelhorn.
In the blade is some sort of inscription in gold or something?.
Here are the pics.

I hope some1 has an answer to it abouth eventuelly the age and the region or land it comes from?

ty for your time.
Regards
John

Thumbs up

I WOULD CLASSIFY IT AS A KLEWANG AND GUESS IT IS A MALAYSIAN PIECE. I CAN'T GUESS ON THE AGE BECAUSE IT IS IN SUCH GOOD SHAPE BUT DUE TO THE EXCELLENT WORKMANSHIP AND SILVER USED WOULD GUESS ITS NOT VERY RECENT. AS ALWAYS IT IS DIFFICULT TO TELL MUCH FROM PICTURES THERE IS NOTHING AS GOOD AS HANDS ON, EVEN THEN IT CAN BE DIFFICULT. PERHAPS SOMEONE WITH MORE KNOWLEGE IN THE TYPE WILL HELP. CONGRADULATIONS ON A NICE ITEM.

Tim,

SANP?? cann't figure it out.

I'm afraid these goloks are not very old.
He might got it from an old indonesian man who fought in the wars for the KNIL in indonesia, but I'm pretty sure this golok has never seen a KNIL soldier. I think when this piece was made the KNIL didn't exist any more.

Sorry Henk it is meant to be SNAP a simple card game. When you turn over the same value card the first player to shout snap wins. I have struggled with spelling all my life, unlike people how find spelling no problem I do not find fault in those who cannot draw.
