evil Chinese fake
As a member of the collecting community I often feel ethically mixed about my hobby. On the one hand, it would be great if everything old was preserved for all time in museums, and on the other hand, that will never happen, so the collecting community has an obligation toward conservation. This is most true in the case of archeological artifacts. Collectors create a market for looters, but they also give value to objects that might otherwise just have a road built over them.
In this case, the object is purely on the evil side. A Han jian was dug up, broken, and a modern gold over copper handle was attached. http://cgi.ebay.com/ANTIQUARY-CHINES...QQcmdZViewItem This is evil. Josh |
