Guaranteed Best Steel Khukuri
Hi to everybody. I got this khukuri and I want to have some historical information about it, if anybody knows. The main characteristics, is the stamp "GURANTEED BEST STEEL", with the "U" overimposed in an "A", the chromed blade, and the laquered/barnished wodden handle. The chomed was made over a layer of copper. I know it is not a valued antique, and the price does not matter to me. All can I say is that it looks well made, feels well balanced, has a tempered sharp blade without no chromium in the edge, and is an efficient cutter. I have been told that maybe is a production piece from the 30-40s, and that John Powel belived that this khukuri was made in India and issued to military or police forces for sometime, and others belive it was made for the private market, even as an old tourist piece. But nobody has precise information about the dates it was made in, and the intended uses for this special make. I would appreciate if somebody can give me some historical information about it. I attach a picture for your view.
Thank you very much in advance.
