Banjar Parang?

Hello,

I would like to know the name of this parang (which I suppose to be originating from the region of Banjarmasin).
The blade possesses a pamor but this one is not very visible because of the rest of an old varnish (yellowish). On one side of the blade you can see at the base an X forged in the pamor.
The handle is in wood with 3 brass nails in decoration on each side.
The lightweight wooden sheath is very skilled at its end and it lacks an element (in wooden? Bone? Horn?).
The blade mesure : 48cm in length, 4cm in maximum width and 7mm in thickness at base

It's a parang kerekoepang like you said from the Banjarmasin area, very nice! A good restorer will be able to carve a new toe piece for the scabbard. I am sure that a polish and etch will bring a nice lamination visible.

Forget to mention, the varnish could be shellac, try carefully aceton.

I saw this discussion but I wasn't sure of the name because the blade is different from the illustration.
On the complete plate of Schmeltz we can see a blade much closer to my parang (and yours) with a simpler handle.
This is n°9, Do you have the explanation of this plate to know the name associated with blade n°9?

Here for the others the complete plate. I think that No. 9 is also a parang kerekoepang but I am not sure.

A good restorer will be able to carve a new toe piece for the scabbard. I am sure that a polish and etch will bring a nice lamination visible. Congrats, very nice sword!
