Hello all.
I'm posting this for a friend. Does anyone reconize the style/origin of this dagger? Possible age ? Thanks for any help. Sorry for the poor pics. Rick |

phillipino punal: aka moro gunong, pre-ww2? amybe pre ww1/spanam wars. looks like a nice one, in need of a clean. comes in a variety of sizes and some with waves.

Yes this is a Moro gunong from Mindanao Island. It might be from the Magindanao tribe, perhaps the 1920s.
The mounts might be silver but need to be cleaned. |

The surface of the pommel looks interesting. Is the pommel bone or wood?

may I ask you how long this example is? I think that it is a souvenir gunong similar to the here shown example: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showpo...1&postcount=72 or the small examples from Ron here in down: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showpo...6&postcount=63 They can be seen in this thread: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ghlight=gunong This would mean that it is much later as 1920.
