Question New one : Bali ?

Hi all,

Just received this knife this morning. It seems I'm finding more and more Indonesian stuff lately. This is one of my latest finds, others will follow.
My guess is that it's from Bali. Could anyone tell me the correct name of this kind of knife ? I tried to look it up in the book by Zonneveld, but could find anything matching.

I think it's an older one (judging from patina on the scabbard). The blade is straight. One edge is sharp over its entire length. The other side has a cutting edge of approx. 2/3 of the blade. This knife has no pamor.
Scabbard and handle are made of wood. The scabbard has some iron binding. At the bottom a piece is missing. I'm planning to restore it (when I find the time). Do you think it needs a bone tip or would a wooden one be better ?

Total length is : 30,5 cm. Length of blade : 22,5 cm.

Here are some pics :

Very nice!

But it doesn't look like Bali.
That style of floral hilt and scabbard is found mostly in the Padang High-/Lowlands
(W Sumatra) but also around Banjarmasin (S Borneo).
My guess for this one is Sumatra.
I think it looks best with a bone tip.

Thanks for the info, guys.

Sometimes it's hard to find the right description or origin.

Can anyone show me a picture of how the tip should look like ? I already searched for bade-bade and there the tip is asymmetrical.

I think the foot should be of this style. This is the buntut of my keris panjang, but it should be the same for the badek. It's actually quite hard to make a piece that would fit perfectly into the curved 'V' slot.
