Ron Genduru or Ron Pakis
Dear All,
Please help me to identified the feature of this keris. I've asked many people about its pamor, and the answers divided between Ron Genduru or Ron pakis. Based on your observation, what type of pamor it is? and could you please give a brief explanation why it fall into this category (pamor)? What type of wood that used for warangka? and the last one, anyone could give me the best estimate of its tangguh? Thank you for help. Regards |

Hi Sid. You haven't really shown us any detailed shots to help us answer your questions. Better images might help, but you blade looks fairly contemporary to me. The pamor patterns you ask about are rather similar and i am sure you will receive varying responses to the name game. Still, i would think good, sharp close-ups are necessary for the debate to even begin.

My opinion: recent Surakarta style keris, pamor Ron pakis. Wood hardly recognizable.

I do not know what I'm looking at here.
The blade might be current era, but it could also be early 20th century The pamor could be one of several types of ron duru, it might be ron pakis, but since this is a Jatim keris (includes Madura) it is most likely bulu ayam. It may also be one of several other pamors that are made in like fashion. To give an opinion I would need to examine the construction with a loupe. The wood displays high chatoyancy but it is impossible to form any sort of opinion on the basis of photos. If this were a new or recent wrongko I'd perhaps take a punt on akasia, but it does not appear to be recent. The pendok , jejeran dan mendak are all relatively recent, possibly 1980's. Even with very, very good photos I would be reluctant to commit a definite opinion on this keris. |
