Nigerian hunters stand ready for government go-ahead to search for abducted school girls. Most look to be armed with homemade shotguns, and muzzle loaders. They believe talismanic powers will protect them from terrorist bullets. It's sad that they have to ask permission. If it were my girls...

They are brave to face the terrorists with shotguns who will have AK47s and a variety of other weapons, taken from the Libyan armories when that country fell !

Gentlemen, i am not convinced that i see this thread as having much bearing on any useful discussion of ethnographic arms and armor. Modern day politics are a topic best avoided in these forum for obvious reasons.

Sorry I muddied up the water; I found the archaic weapons fascinating , which was probably the original poster's intention.

David's reaction is justified--these discussions rarely stay on-course and typically degenerate into off-topic socio-political "debate."
If the discussion remains on the weapons themselves, I see no reason why this thread cannot remain open. However, we will strictly enforce this requirement and will close the thread sua sponte if it does not. Andrew Vikingsword Staff |

I've had a couple of these type muzzle loaders in the past. Wish I still had them, for a photographic comparison. Anyone have any?
