Question Please help ID no-weapon object

Only if its OK.

I have tried all over the net, and a incense burner forum "no reply" so if it is okay I thought I would try here. There are members from around the world and many of you are well travelled. I also like to collect "tribal pottery" low fired burnish earthenware. I have this fish incense burner 19cm long. I do not know why but I think of Mexican folk art or Philippine work? anyone seen anything similar???

It has the look of a Mexican object - I've seen those type of feet on Pre-Columbian dog figure ceramics - Colima maybe ?
