Default Somali Shield?

Sold, naturally, as Sudanese/Mahdist etc. but I think it's Somali (a Gaashaan) 14" in diameter...

...what do our members think? And by the way, there's one in Braveheart - see if you can spot it

Stephen

The shield being shown it the video is more closely associated with Oman and Zanzibar than Somalia. One gentleman even states that the gaashaan is bigger in diameter. They also are looking at a knife in another video and can't make up their mind what it is? It looks like a ordinary knife. Funny I thought we would see a bilao dagger or something.

...actually I think that the people talking about the objects are from the "community" rather than experts.

I suppose the small conical one is a buckler, the larger, flatter one a targe (or target).
