Hello,

Nice Sewar.
I' don't know for the blade (I love the rounded base) but for me the scabbard is not very old.

Hello Thomas,

Certainly a genuine antique blade! Fittings tend to be younger for old-timers like this.

How well does the blade fit? Have a thorough look at the scabbard, especially the wood and also the inside. If it doesn't look like a more recent replacement, it might have some age with possibly the later embossed bands helping to stabilize worn out joints.

Regards,
Kai

Thomas,
If and/ or when it's convenient for you, could I ask you to post a closeup photo of the end/ tip of the "crosspiece" of the scabbard, from "head-on"? A similar photo of the "buntut"/ bottom of the scabbard would be nice, as well, though I'm primarily interested in the end of the "crosspiece".
I apologize for my unfamiliarity with the nomenclature related to sewar.
Thank you.
Mickey
