A very nice Tuareg dagger probably from Niger. A new one for sure, probably intended to be selled to tourists, but made in the traditional style.
Sincerely, Zan |

I SAW A LOT OF THESE FOR SALE IN MOROCCO AS WELL. THEY ARE VERY ATTRACTIVE AND WELL MADE BUT ARE MOSTLY SOLD TO TOURISTS AS THE PRICE IS A BIT HIGH FOR THE LOCALS TO USE FOR A WORK KNIFE. THEY COME IN THREE SIZES THE LARGEST I HAVE SEEN AROUND 18 TO 20 IN. MEDIUM 12 IN. SMALL 8 IN. THE BETTER ONES HAVE SILVER AND SOMETIMES AMBER , THE LOWER QUALITY USE WHITE METAL THE BLADE QUALITY IS THE SAME ON ALL OF THEM. THE ONE SHOWN IS THE MOST COMMON FORM BUT THERE ARE QUITE A FEW VARIATIONS IN THE TYPE.
