Age and origin of Jambiya ?
Hello,
I'm new to this forum and interested in the subject of ancient weapons, so thanks for letting me in. In the early nineties, I acquired a dagger (jambiya) from the Emirates (?) As the person who gave it to me already deceased long time ago I cannot ask it to him anymore. Can somebody tell me what kind of weapon it is and what the origin is ? I enclosed some photo's. Any info on this object is very welcome. Thanks a lot ! Steven |

Salaams Steven, What you have here is essentially a dagger from Oman.. The Omani Khanjar. In fact the suggested site to look at here on Forum is The Omani Khanjar ..pleased see http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...=omani+khanjar or you can simply tap the words The Omani Khanjar into Search Your item is a basic bull or cowhorn hilt with low quality possibly plated silverwork in the scabbard and grip... nonetheless it gives you a great starting point to explore Omani Khanjars. The best help I can give you is all at The Omani Khanjar and I hope you enjoy reading the facts... Regards, Ibrahiim al Balooshi. |
