Austrian Cuirassier trombone 1759/81
Here a simple military but certainly very effectiv trombone, the Austrian cuirassier trombone M 1759/81 In each regiment of cuirassiers only 12 men used to have such a gun. A look in its impressive and most threatening muzzle might have had along lasting effect.

Cool design. The oval muzzle is Obviously an attempt to provide a hrizontal dispersion of shot. Modern shotgun muzzle adapters/chokes on militarty/police shotguns I recall, designed to produce a similar spread produced variable results.
The sights I would guess were there as a suggestion of where the pellets might wander if they flt like it. The external safety is a useful addition to keep them from doing their journey in the direction of the owner. |
