Default Unknown Sumatra (?) dagger

Hello,

I want to show you this old supposed sumatran dagger. Handle and sheath are very well patinated and fine carved while the blade is from more poore quality, maybe an older replacement. Is someone able to give a exact origin and a name for this dagger? It is 35 cm inside the sheath, the blade alone is 24 cm. is it maybe a sumatran badik?

Thanks in advance,

Detlef

Hi

I don't really know much about South East Asian weapons, but I believe this to be a badik from Indonesia/Sumatra ? as you mention. They come in slightly different styles, sometimes with ivory handles, silver etc.

Looks a nice piece.

Hi Colin,

thank's for comment! You may be correct since I have done some research more and found a very similar dagger in the first book from Jean Greffioz which he named badik from Sumatra.
Would be nice to see a similar piece more from the collection of a member.

Regards,

Detlef
