I think you'll find a few threads using Puuko in the search engine; and yes there are a few enthusiasts around this place .
Lovely knife . I had one similar in size with a fid in a attached pocket . I got it 45 years ago at a ship chandlery in Copenhagen; not quite a Puuko style handle or sheath, but close . The blade was the finest stainless I have ever encountered . Some bastard stole it from me . |

Yes, that is the largest Marttiini Lynx series puukko. Don't think it's
made anymore. Marttiini make/made a great knife. I've several in my collection. In recent years they have gone mainly to plastics and synthetic handles (which turn me off). They made their reputation internationally with their filet knife - now Rapala/Normark which I think they have contracted out to a Chinese maker :-( Hard to beat an old, pre circa 1970 Marttiini puukko. Real cutters and well made. You can check their website at: http://www.marttiini.fi/puukot/shop/english/kuvasto.asp Rich S Nordic/Scandi Knife Links http://home.earthlink.net/~rsblade/puukko.htm |
