RECENTLY AQUIRED KERIS FOR INFORMATION.
I RECENTLY GOT THIS KERIS AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION AND COMMENTS ON IT. IT LOOKS TO BE A GOOD OLD EXAMPLE WITH GOOD WEAR AND PATINA THRU OUT. I DON'T KNOW ITS ORIGION OR AGE OR IF THE HANDLE IS A JAVA DEAMON OR GARUDA FORM? 19 INCHES LONG TOTAL IN SCABBARD WITH 14 INCH BLADE. SAID TO BE 19TH CENTURY. THE BLADE SHAPE LOOKS LIKE WHAT IS USUALLY REFERRED TO AS A EXECUTIONERS BLADE BUT MAY NOT BE THE PROPER TERM FOR IT. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Good catch Barry!
Look like a Sumatra keris from Minabgkabau area or Aceh/Gayo, blade form I would call bahari. Regards, Detlef |

I agree with Detlef, the hilt is a special type of Jawa Demam, see a similar kris from my collection which is attributed to Minangkabau.
Best Regards |
