One for the' Flysserati'.
Hi,
Found this image in a sold catalogue from a U.K. auction house. I have not seen this type of hilt before and I thought this may interest the aforesaid 'Flysserati'. Regards, Norman. P.S. This is the only photograph. |

The unusual hilt reminds me of Ottoman hilts made of agate on some khanjar. Not seen this hilt type on a flyssa before.

Oops, the F word!
The scabbard also seems to be similar to yataghan scabbard construction, not the typical flyssa style. We've seen a number of these in Ottoman fashion, and vice versa, yataghan in flyssa-style scabbard. Emanuel |
